![]() After the Turtles escape he was furious realizing that their fighting kept reminding him of something he remembered in the past. The Shredder then had them kidnapped Splinter and hires Danny to keep an eye on the Turtles. That plan failed when Raphael saved her from the foot and brought her to his home as the Foot follow and they discovered the Turtles lair. When he discovered that the news reporter, April O'Neil has information on his Foot, he orders them to find her and silence her. He did this by providing them with various luxuries and warping their minds, so they would think that he actually cares for them. Years later, he eventually moved his business to New York and hired street thugs to be a part of his clan. In the aftermath, he took over the Foot Clan and became a crime lord dressed in large metal bladed armor calling himself "The Shredder". In retaliation, Saki threw Splinter to the ground and attempted to kill him with his sword, but was only successful in cutting off the rat's ear before escaping. In revenge for killing his master and mistress, Splinter attacked Saki by leaping onto his face, biting and clawing at it, leaving it permanently scarred. In the struggle, Splinter's cage was knocked over, freeing him. When Yoshi came home and saw her dead, Saki took advantage of his shock and ambushed him, killing him as well. Following them to New York, Saki broke into their home and murdered Tang Shen in cold blood. However, Saki would not accept rejection from Yoshi or Shen and swore revenge on both of them. They all eventually settled into New York City, where Yoshi got work as a construction worker. Rather than see him and Saki fight over her, Shen persuaded Yoshi to flee to America, taking along Yoshi's pet rat, Splinter, who learned ninjitsu from watching his master train. Their most fierce competition, however, was for the affection of Tang-Shen, who ultimately chose Yoshi.

![]() ![]() Sony has asked critics not to reveal what happens from there (and I won’t), but there really isn’t much to spoil. Needless to say, things are not quite what they seem. So far as Peter is concerned, this is the kind of hero who should be saving the day - not a girl-crazy high school kid who sometimes like to cosplay as his alter-ego around his local neighborhood after school. There are inter-dimensional creatures wreaking havoc across the continent, and Mysterio can focus on stopping them without having to keep one eye on the chiseled dude who keeps moving in on MJ. He goes by the name of Mysterio (Gyllenhaal, who brings the perfect warped energy to the part but isn’t given anywhere to put it), and he arrives just in time to fill the leadership vacuum that formed after Iron Man died and the rest of the Avengers went their separate ways. She needn’t have bothered: The Midtown High students are only in Venice for about five minutes before a giant water monster shows up to flood the piazzas, but a handsome fella with a red cape flies in on a trail of green farts and saves the day. Zendaya has more chemistry with some of the many, many drugs her character takes on HBO’s “Euphoria.” The romantic tension between them tries to thread the needle between teenage awkwardness and canonical belonging, and ends up tying itself into knots of prefab movie nonsense. ![]() MJ (the well-cast but under-utilized Zendaya), is still a morbid and pathologically honest girl whose cleverness doesn’t stop her from squinting through every scene, but she’s become the clear object of Peter’s affection. Peter is still a simpering 16-year-old kid with a big secret (and an even bigger crush), only now he’s struggling to fill the shoes left behind by his late mentor, Tony Stark. This stuff is gold, as returning director Jon Watts displays the same amusing knack for adolescent crises that made 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming” such a refreshing earthbound reboot. ![]() But when the action cuts back to Queens, where the students of Midtown(?) High School are still trying to make sense of the “blip” that tore their world in half with a snap of Thanos’ fingers, that’s when the film really starts digging through the rubble of a mega-franchise that won the championship, lost its stars, and is readying itself for a rebuild season. “Far From Home” begins with what people want to see in a superhero movie: A bearded Jake Gyllenhaal wearing a fishbowl on his head and fighting a giant pile of sand. For all of its frequent charm, the most generous thing you can say about “Far From Home” is that it’s the third-best Spider-Man movie of the last seven months (if “Endgame” counts towards Holland’s contract, then it also counts against him here). Writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers spin a lot of web from the veneer of a story, but their script strains belief at every turn, and the jokes are the only part of it that sticks it’s never a good sign when both of a film’s most significant plot points are buried in the closing credits. Fans might be appeased by a successful bunt in a long summer of disgraceful strike-outs, but this is still a maddening failure when compared to the remarkable artistry of “Into the Spider-Verse” or the raw pathos of Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man 2.”įor ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ to Be an ‘Endgame’ Epilogue, Director Jon Watts Kept Secrets for Years ![]() As a piece of connective tissue in an ever-metastasizing cinematic universe, Tom Holland’s sophomore (solo) outing as Peter Parker does a clever job of closing the door on one phase and nudging it open to another it’s funny and colorful and hinges on some MCU deep-cuts that even the most hardcore fans won’t be able to anticipate.Īs a standalone story, however - another predictable call to action about the burdens of growing up and becoming the person that others believe you can be - it’s a hollow exercise in going through the motions. Don’t be fooled by the title, or the fact that Marvel finally shot a movie outside of Atlanta: “ Spider-Man: Far From Home” is a cute but unadventurous bit of superhero housekeeping that only exists to clean up the cataclysmic mess that “Avengers: Endgame” left behind. ![]() ![]() One hopes that some of the more topical themes debated by the Avengers in the previous installments-particularly about their role in geopolitics and the security state-will be addressed at some point in the second film. And there’s a haunting final sequence that is as grave and, I daresay, almost poetic as anything the film series has done. There are moments of high drama in Infinity War-between father and daughter, brother and brother, mentor and protégé, lover and lover-that these actors, as deep in this series as we are, deliver on with teary intensity. Infinity War is much like Thanos, terrifying and magnificent in its bigness, both unfeeling juggernaut and alluring giant ribboned with pathos. I cringed when my audience applauded the Marvel logo, and yet felt a frisson of true excitement when we gasped in pain and surprise at the (likely temporary) death of a beloved character. But it plays just that much louder in Infinity War, the film towering over us (and the mid-spring cinematic landscape) with such sleek, assured dominance that one feels half cowed into awe and half sick about the corporate slavishness of it all. That outsized aural and visual register is something we’ve grown accustomed to, in the Avengers films and others. The movie is a relentless clobberer, going fast and hard on action and exposition, managing a few pensive moments here and there, but mostly raging at full blare for its 150-minute run. To accomplish that terrible end, he needs all six of the Infinity Stones-enchanted objects we’ve seen scattered throughout the other Marvel Studios films, vied for and contended with but only now proving more than MacGuffins. Thanos has spent too much time on the wrong subreddit or something, and now lives by a pretty extreme philosophy that involves him trying to kill half of everything that’s alive in order to finally bring peace and balance to the universe. We’ve met him fleetingly in the past, but now here he is front and center, a saturnine and surprisingly compelling villain given voice and lumbering body by Josh Brolin. The guy helping nudge things toward a conclusion is Thanos, big and purple and from another world. ![]() I don’t necessarily wish death upon any of these (largely resurrectable) gods and aliens and souped-up humans, but the faint sense of impending finality hanging in Infinity War’s air is refreshing. Still, I appreciate the film’s move toward something concrete, inching us closer to a time when at least some of these stories will be complete. The story will conclude next year with a part-two film, which gives Infinity War a slightly unsatisfying tang. Finally, Infinity War provides that, assembling nearly all the heroes we’ve gone zooming after over the years for a defining adventure with actual life-or-death stakes. ![]() If we’re being asked to watch 19 movies in a series, with more to come, a sense of a grander arc would be nice. Since they first teamed up six years ago, I’ve yearned for their bright, rollicking exploits to take on some summative shape or ultimate purpose, something that really binds together not strictly just the Avengers films (of which the new Infinity War, opening April 24, is the third) but all the other disparate movies in their orbit. At long last, the Avengers seem to be getting somewhere. ![]() ![]() ![]() After the exam, they will discuss patients’ oral health conditions and suggest some preventive practices patients can take to protect their oral health. On the other hand, Ho obtained his degree in Industrial Designing from the University of South Australia. Tsou completed his primary education in Auckland, New Zealand, and followed grandma back to Taipei, Taiwan. The boys met through their military service in Taiwan. It all started with two words- holy moly, enough to break the ice with his co-founder, Frederick Ho. It was not as much a decision to become an entrepreneur as it was merely a realization that is what Tsou was meant to do. Tsou is not merely learning Taiwan’s dental ecosystem, but also seizing the opportunity for reinvention. You stop doing useful things if you do not learn”. Here, Tsou reminds us of Satya Nedella’s quote, “Be passionate and bold. As well as traveling back and forth either from Taipei to Xizi or Taipei to Taitung to demonstrate and sell dental equipment to potential customers. So, that was the impetus: giving him a thirst for learning, including equipment, practices, terminologies, and processes and gaining a deep understanding of it -all in less than a month. “When dentists communicate with each other, they use terminologies such as prophylaxis, prosthesis, interproximal and you will think to yourself, “what?”, said Tsou. The Benz pulled up to the curb just as we reached it, Raúl a big shadowy figure at the wheel.
